Make sure that you've decided your area of specialization to do your masters in. This is necessary as you should join a related company, after your bachelors, for relevant experience which will make getting internship/job easier during your masters.
Now that you've decided to pursue MS, you need to decide as to join in Fall or Spring. There are pros and cons for both the terms but Fall is the preferred one. There are some universities which don't intake in Spring. And the F1-visa condition is that we can do off-campus job or internship only after 9 months of our stay in the US, so you aren't eligible for internships/jobs in the coming summer if you join in the spring. Another thing before planning as to when to start your masters is that there are certain pre-requisites for your various upcoming courses and/or that can be required for a job/internship. If you join in Spring, the huge summer holidays following it can be used to learn these pre-requisites, like various languages, and/or on doing projects, going back to India where your flight ticket will be equivalent to the expenses of your stay in the US 😉 and can try for internship in India as well. So, if you join in the advantageous fall then make sure you're ready with the pre-requisites as you won't get time later to cover it.
Deciding the university best for you is a very important task and should be done with utmost care. Now that you've decided your area of specialization, check out the coursework of various universities you're interested in. The bachelors' aggregate and respective backlogs, if any, affects greatly to the university you're applying for. So, take heed of respective seniors and make sure you get enough score in GRE and TOEFL/IELTS. And check out for the respective professors at http://www.ratemyprofessors.com. So, make sure that the coursework suits your needs and that the professors at the respective university are good. And then you may shortlist the universities on other factors like job-fairs, on-campus jobs, weather(place), etc.
